I think it’s a safe bet that the Microsoft HoloLens is going to change our view on computing.  Join us this winter for an unprecedented Augmented/Mixed Reality class with Clackamas Community College at the Oregon Story Board, with support from Intel, Sprocketship, and Object Theory.  Probably goes without saying:  this is the start of something special.

Like the graphic says, contact Andy Mingo at andym@clackamas.edu or call Kelly White at 503-594-3034 to express your interest in this class.

PS – if you’re a C# guru, Unity, or CG modeler, definitely let that be known when signing up.

PPS – check out the HoloLens meetup group here.

UPDATE:  the class is live and if you’ve got the skills, express interest here.

#5 is alive!  Autodesk Hits Portland 5.0 is upon us and Nov 12 is the date to remember for what has proven itself year after year as “the main event.”  This time around, Autodesk brings us a focus on mainstays 3D Studio Max and Maya, along with a new offering – Stingray.  3D printing is a hot topic and Brian McLean from LAIKA will be presenting the latest and greatest tech as they continue to push the envelope out in Hillsboro.  Come out and network early with food and drink provided, all within the friendly confines of OMSI and the Empirical Theater.

Get your free tickets now while they last:

IMG_3886Have to pause a second and thank those responsible for the best event we’ve had in quite a long time, in my opinion!  The stars aligned and we were able to bring three VFX Supervisors at the top of their game to the stage, and it made for an exciting afternoon.  Big thanks to Jim Rygiel, Sue Rowe, and Ed Irastorza for taking the time out to talk shop over a busy holiday weekend.  And an extra special thank you to Dawn Macleod for organizing and Portland Film Fest for hosting.

Thanks are in order to our sponsors.  Congrats to the door prize winners, who walked away with licenses for Blackmagic Design’s Fusion Studio and Resolve Studio products.  We also gave away copies of the new Ian Failes book Masters of FX.

Really good stuff and I think I speak for everyone when I say I hope this becomes a yearly Portland Film Fest tradition!
