Autodesk Hits Portland 4.0 (FREE)

This time it’s a whole different thing:
What’s different? 3DV is hosting the event at the OMSI Empirical Theater, the largest screen in Portland! On Wednesday evening we are featuring top tech artists from Autodesk, Marcel de Jong and Gary Davis. This event sells out every single year so don’t wait to reserve your spot. The evening starts off with appetizers, beer and a little networking. The Autodesk presenters will focus on the 2015 & Extension releases (Entertainment Creation Suite) including all of the latest features in Autodesk 3ds Max and Autodesk Maya. We will also present Reality Capture projects, budget Motion Capture, 3D printing, several acquisitions and tech previews. We end the evening with Wacom Intuos and Chaos Group V-Ray raffles.

Barry has more than 14 years experience in Film, Video Games, and Product visualization. He has worked at Disney Interactive as a Character Lead, at Pixar Animation Studios as a character modeler/rigger, and at Nike, Inc as a 3D Lead.
John Farrell – CTO/Co-Founder Villusion Studios
Jon has worked in feature animation for the past 7 years. He has worked at Pixar Animation Studios as a Sets Shading TD, and Dreamworks Animation where he was a Character FX Lead.
Greg Brown – Creative Specialist at The Foundry
Greg has worked in advertising as a 3D artist for 5 years and as a freelance character modeler for 8. He currently spends his days serving up fresh, hot MODO goodness!

PUPPET EXTRAVAGANZA Ages 7-10
What better way to beat the winter weather than to make a puppet friend to warm your heart and subsequently your hands? Inspired by the wonderful world of Jim Henson, this workshop will teach students how to create and animate their very own puppet creature.

ANIMATE IT! Our mobile animation lab offers workshops for Portland’s budding animators ages 7-10 and 11-13. Workshops are held at the Hollywood Theatre from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm on Saturdays and cost $65 for equipment, materials and snacks. Workshops are designed and inspired by films and monthly series programmed at the Hollywood Theatre. Develop valuable animation skills using the latest software and equipment and then watch your imagination come to life on the big screen.
3DPDX and AEPDX are very excited to host Maxon, makers of Cinema 4D as they spend an evening in Portland on Thursday evening, December 11th to showcase some of the top talents using C4D today.

He is currently working on a freelance basis for commercials and film, while also teaching classes in visual effects and motion graphics at Video Symphony in Burbank.

Casey Hupke is a visualfx designer/animator who has been working in the commercial industry for the better part of 6 years. As a freelancer he has collaborated with several studios to help define a generative art style that can be seen in campaigns for clients such as IBM, ATT, Coca Cola, and Buick. A passion for comedy and illogical particle effects help to define his work flow, and design aesthetic.

Getting his start as Fortune 500 marketing Manager Mathias Omotola has built himself into Manager of events and Community Outreach for MAXON U.S. makers of CINEMA 4D. Mathias is a Mixed Media specialist with a passion for Producing / Directing / Visual Effects and Motion Design.
Mathias will be presenting some cool new features of the new R16 version of C4D.
